Emma Lathen was the pen name of two American businesswomen: an economist Mary Jane Latsis (July 12, 1927 – October 29, 1997) and an attorney Martha Henissart (born 1929), who received her B.A. in physics from Mount Holyoke College in 1950 (<a href=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Lathen>Wikipedia</a>). They also wrote under the pen name R. B. Dominic.

Emma Merritt
Emma F. Merritt was born on 12 November 1940 in Texas, USA. She resided with her husband, Paul, in San Antonio, where she wrote long letters to her twin sons, who both served in the Marine Corps. Her romances were published since 1983, she signed her novels as Emma Merritt and under the pseudonyms Emma Bennett and Micah Leigh. She was the first president of the San Antonio Romance Authors. She was widely known in the romance community as a tireless volunteer and mentor. Emma Merritt passed away on 18 October 1995. Since then, the Romance Writers of America have honored the memory of Merritt by naming their National Service Award after her. The Virginia Romance Writers have also named a scholarship after Emma Merritt, and the San Antonio Romance Authors have named their conference and contest after her: the Merritt Conference and the Award of Merritt.

Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann was a German Romantic author of fantasy and Gothic horror, a jurist, composer, music critic and artist. His stories form the basis of Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann, in which Hoffmann appears (heavily fictionalized) as the hero. He is also the author of the novella The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, on which Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker is based. The ballet Coppélia is based on two other stories that Hoffmann wrote, while Schumann's Kreisleriana is based on Hoffmann's character Johannes Kreisler.

Eva García Sáenz de Urturi was born in Vitoria, Spain. She published in 2012 her first novel, "The Immortal Collection", a critical and sales phenomenon, and in 2014 the second installment,"The Sons of Adam", along with the historical novel "Passage to Tahití". In 2016 he published "The Silence of the White City", a gripping thriller set in his hometown that has been a great success in her country and has been translated into more than twenty languages, topping the bestseller list in countries such as the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Mexico, Argentina or Brazil. It was also the subject of a film adaptation in 2019, currently available on Netflix. Fernand Braudel
Fernand Braudel was the foremost French historian of the postwar era and a leader of the Annales School. His scholarship focused on three great projects, each representing several decades of intense study: "The Mediterranean" (1923–49, then 1949–66), "Civilization and Capitalism" (1955–79), and the unfinished "Identity of France" (1970–85). His reputation stems in part from his writings, but even more from his success in making the Annales School the most important engine of historical research in France and much of the world after 1950. As the dominant leader of the Annales School of historiography in the 1950s and 1960s, he exerted enormous influence on historical writing in France and other countries. Braudel has been considered one of the greatest of those modern historians who have emphasised the role of large-scale socioeconomic factors in the making and telling of history. Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller was a German physician, playwright, poet, and philosopher. During the last seventeen years of his life (1788–1805), Schiller developed a productive, if complicated, friendship with the already famous and influential Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. They frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics, and Schiller encouraged Goethe to finish works that he had left as sketches. This relationship and these discussions led to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism. They also worked together on Xenien, a collection of short satirical poems in which both Schiller and Goethe challenge opponents of their philosophical vision.

He holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in business from Wayne State University in Detroit, and he received his Ph.D. in marketing from Northwestern University in Illinois. Dr. Armstrong has contributed numerous articles to leading business journals, and authored and co-authored numerous books. As a consultant and researcher, he has worked with many companies on marketing research, sales management, and marketing strategy. But Professor Armstrong's first love has always been teaching. His long-held Blackwell Distinguished Professorship is the only permanent endowed professorship for distinguished undergraduate teaching at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The pen name of Harold Blundell, a British detective novelist. Harold Blundell was a prominent banker and philanthropist from Manchester with close connections to the University of Manchester. He was born in Lancashire and married Gwladys Mabel Roberts in 1930. Over a span of forty years, Blundell as Bellairs wrote over fifty novels in his spare time. He was best known for his popular series featuring gruff, pipe-smoking Detective Inspector Thomas Littlejohn. His books are set at a time when the real life British Scotland Yard would send their most brilliant of sleuths out to the rest of the country to solve their most insolvable of murders. In the late 1950s he moved to the Isle of Man and became a full-time writer. Many of his novels are set on the Isle of Man. He also wrote four books using the pseudonym Hilary Landon.
