Terms of Service

Last updated: August 25, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Bookish (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Bookish. If you are in the European Economic Area, you must be at least 16, unless your country sets a lower age and you have permission from a parent or guardian. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian’s permission to use the Service. By using Bookish, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information as necessary. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Post content that is abusive, harassing, threatening, or hateful
  • Post sexually explicit material, or content promoting self-harm, violence, or discrimination
  • Target, intimidate, or bully another reader
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ accounts
  • Use automated means to scrape, collect, or harvest data from the Service
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

5. Objectionable Content and Zero Tolerance

Bookish has zero tolerancefor objectionable content and abusive readers. The conduct described above is not permitted anywhere on the Service — in reviews, replies, profiles, or any other content you create.

Every review, reply, and profile can be reported from inside the app, and you can block any reader at any time. Reports reach our team directly. We remove violating content and ban the accounts that post it. Serious violations result in permanent removal without notice.

To report content or a reader, use the report control in the app, or email us at support@bookish-app.com.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content created by Bookish, is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the content you create (reviews, highlights, reading notes) but grant Bookish a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display and distribute your content within the Service.

7. Third-Party Content

Book metadata, cover images, and descriptions are sourced from third-party providers and publishers. Bookish does not claim ownership of this content and provides it for informational purposes only.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to other users or the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We are not responsible for the accuracy of book metadata or third-party content.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bookish shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email. Your continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance.
