Douglas E. Comer
Professor Comer is an internationally recognized expert on computer networking and the TCP/IP protocols. He has been working with TCP/IP and the Internet since the late 1970s. Comer established his reputation as a principal investigator on several early Internet research projects. He served as chairman of the CSNET technical committee, chairman of the DARPA Distributed Systems Architecture Board, and was a member of the Internet Activities Board (the group of researchers who built the Internet). Comer has created courses on computer networks, the Internet, TCP/IP protocols, and operating systems for a variety of audiences, including in-depth courses for engineers and less technical courses for others; he continues to teach at various industries and networking conferences around the world. In addition, Comer consults for private industry on the design of networks and networking equipment. Professor Comer is well-known for his series of ground breaking textbooks on computer networks, the Internet, computer operating systems, and computer architecture. His books have been translated into sixteen languages, and are widely used in both industry and academia. Comer's three-volume series Internetworking With TCP/IP is often cited as an authoritative reference for the Internet protocols. More significantly, Comer's texts have been used by fifteen of the top sixteen Computer Science Departments listed in the U.S. News and World Report ranking. Comer's research is experimental. He and his students design and implement working prototypes of large, complex systems. The performance of the resulting prototypes are then measured. The operating system and protocol software that has resulted from Comer's research has been used by industry in a variety of products. For twenty years, Professor Comer served as editor-in-chief of the research journal Software--Practice And Experience, published by John Wiley & Sons. Andrej Poleev (Russian: Андрей Полеев) was born on 30 September 1965 in a russian town Novotroizk (Russian: Новотроицк). After 10 years of compulsory education, he graduated from Leningrad State University (Russian: Ленинградский Государственный Университет) in 1988 with a degree in biology. His professional career began in 1989 at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Leningrad (since 1991 renamed to St. Petersburg). In 1991, he moved to Salzburg (Austria), where he worked at the Institute of Molecular Biology. From 1993 to 2003 he worked as a scientist in various biomedical research institutes in Germany. The academic degree of Ph.D. in Biology was awarded in 1995 at the Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Farm Animals (St. Petersburg-Pushkin) based on his research on the genomic organization of human PAX8 gene. Since 2003 he acts as editor and publisher of the online journal Enzymes ISSN 1867-3317 and develops the theory of metascience. With his publications he contributes to the fields of psychoanalysis, linguistics, topology, and constitutional law. He is the author of several books written in Russian and German.

Edith Thacher was born in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1933 she graduated from Radcliffe College and moved to New York City, and in 1934 she enrolled in the Bank Street College of Education. There she met fellow student George Hurd, and the two married in 1939. They began creating children's books, she writing and he illustrating. In 1938, she published her first book for children Hurry, Hurry. In 1949, they had a son, Thacher, who is also a children's book illustrator. Over the course of her career, Edith wrote more than seventy-five children's books, many of which were illustrated by Clement.

Edward Hallett "Ted" Carr CBE FBA (28 June 1892 – 3 November 1982) was a British historian, diplomat, journalist and international relations theorist, and an opponent of empiricism within historiography. Carr was best known for A History of Soviet Russia, a 14-volume history of the Soviet Union from 1917 to 1929 including The Bolshevik Revolution, 1917-1923 (3 vols.), The Interregnum, 1923-1924 (1 vols.), Socialism in One Country, 1924-1926 (3 vols.), Foundations of a Planned Economy, 1926-1929 (3 vols.), for his writings on international relations, particularly The Twenty Years' Crisis, and for his book What Is History? in which he laid out historiographical principles rejecting traditional historical methods and practices.
