Adeline Catherine was born on 22 December 1948 in in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA. She always yearned to be a writer like her mother. The morning that one of her professors asked if she could use samples of Catherine’s creative writing on an overhead projector to teach was a dream come true. In 1988, she sold her first book to Harlequin Intrigue and went on to write three more before she tried her hand at a single-title historical romance. Nine books later, she did her first single-title contemporary. Catherine married Sidney D. Anderson, an electrical engineer, and they had two sons, Sidney D. Jr. and John G. She lives with her husband, Sid, and her rottweilers, Sam and Sassy, who seem convinced they are teacup poodles and that obedience training is for people. The Andersons' mountaintop chalet is the perfect setting for a writer, for the view is a continuing source of inspiration. In her leisure, Catherine spends time with her friends, her sons and daughters-in-law, and travels to adventures all over the world.

Catherine J. Archibald was born on 17 August, and grew up in Oregon, USA. She has always loved books and reading. Even as little girl, she enjoyed making up further adventures about the characters in the books she read as well as writing stories about her own characters. But it wasn’t until she read Jane Eyre at around the age of 12 that she realized she wanted to write... romance novels. Completing a novel, however, turned out to be much more difficult than making up stories in her head! In the years between deciding to become an author, marrying her Canadian husband, Steve, having three children, enrolling in nursing school twice, she began but never finished many novels. It wasn’t until her youngest child was two that she sat down and told herself that she would complete her book or go to her grave trying. That novel, written on an old typewriter that a friend gave her after finding out that she was working on a book, took two years to finish. Her husband, Steve, seeing how determined she was to become a published author, sold his 1965 Mustang to buy her first computer. He remained a constant and devoted supporter through the seven years of rejections. It was her third completed historical romance, Rose Among Thorns, that Catherine sold to Harlequin Historicals in 1992. It was the culmination of her all her dreams and hard work. She still approaches each book with the same excitement of that first one. Bringing the characters and their story to life are some of her greatest challenges and joys. Each time she helps the hero and heroine discover that being able to truly love and trust in another person only makes you stronger, she renews her own belief in the power of love. With the 2003 release of her thirteenth and last book for Harlequin, Dragon's Daughter, Catherine has lost none of her sense of awe at seeing the names of her characters in print. After a rich and unforgettable stay of 15 years in Alberta, Catherine now lives with her husband of more than 25 years and her three children in Troutdale, Oregon, near her family again. Catherine Ann McMullen was born on 27 June 1906 in Tyne Dock, England, UK. She grew up as daugther of Rose and John McMullen, but was the illegitimate daughter of Kate Fawcett, whom she believed to be her older sister, and Alexander Davies, a bigamist. She left school at 13 and, and she began work in service but eventually moved south to Hastings, where she met and Tom Cookson, a local grammar-school master, whom she married on June 1940. She suffered some miscarriages and couldn't have children. She took up writing as a form of therapy to tackle her depression, and joined Hastings Writers' Group. Her first novel was published in 1950. She wrote almost 100 books, which sold more than 123 million copies, her novels being translated into at least 20 languages. She also wrote books under her childhood name, Katie McMullen, and under the pseudonym Catherine Marchant. After receiving an OBE in 1985, Catherine Cookson was created a Dame of the British Empire in 1993. She was appointed an Honorary Fellow of St Hilda's College, Oxford, in 1997. She passed away on 11 June 1998 in North East. She remained the most borrowed author from public libraries in the UK for 17 years, losing the title only in 2002, four years after her death.

Jean Catherine Coulter was born on 26 December 1942 in Cameron County, Texas, USA, where she grew up in a horse ranch. She graduated from the University of Texas and earned a degree at Boston College in early 19th-century European History. Catherine married Anton Pogany, a medical student, and she took a job as a speech writer for a Wall Street company president. She spent many of her evenings alone, reading romance novels. One night when they were home together, she found herself in the middle of a particularly bad book and threw it across room, asserting that even she could do better. Her husband challenged her to prove herself, and the two spent the weekend plotting out a storyline for a gothic romance. Coulter wrote the novel in the evenings, and when she finish it, she sent it to an editor at Signet. Her novel "The Autumn Countess" was published in 1978. She says that chose a Regency romance for her debut because: "as any published author will tell you, it's best to limit the unknowns in a first book, and not only had I grown up reading Georgette Heyer, but I earned my M.A. degree in 19th century European History.". She became a bestseller novelist, and she earned her reputation writing historical romances, but now also writes contemporary romances. Catherine lives in Marin County, California with her husband, Anton Pogany, now a physician.
