Flora Mildred was born in 1926 in Liverpool, England, UK. The youngest of four children, Flora and her family lived in the same house until she was a teen. In 1949, she graduated from Liverpool University, where she met Robert Kidd, her husband. They moved to Scotland, where she began teaching and raised their four children: Richard, Patricia, Peter and David. Flora was given some romances to read and thought she would like to try and write one. She published her first novel, Visit To Rowanbank, in 1966. From this first sale to Mills and Boon, she continued her romance career until 1989. In 1977, the family moved to Canada. Flora Kidd passed away on 19 March 2008 at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

Flora Speer is the author of twenty-eight book length romances and two novellas. The stories range from historical romances, to time-travel, to futuristic tales. Born in southern New Jersey, she now lives in Connecticut. Her favorite activities include researching background material for the next book, gardening (especially the flowers and herbs used in medieval gardens,) amateur astronomy, and following the U.S. space program, which has occasionally been a source of ideas for futuristic romances.

Florence Parry Heide was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. She began her undergraduate studies at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, then transferred to the University of California at Los Angeles, from which she received her degree in 1939. She moved to New York City and began working in advertising and public relations. When World War II began, she returned to Pittsburgh and became publicity director of The Pittsburgh Playhouse. She met her future husband in 1943 and married him six weeks later. After the war ended, Heide moved with her husband to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where her husband began a private law practice. She raised their children, and began writing children's books. In 1967, her first book, Maximilian, was published. Over the course of her career, she has published more than 100 books for children, including several collections of poetry.

Florence Maria Temko (October 20, 1921 – November 12, 2009), a pioneer in spreading origami in the United States, was perhaps the most prolific author on this subject. With fifty-five books to her credit on paper arts and folk crafts, she was a strong influence on interested beginners in the art of paperfolding. Some of them later developed complex origami designs previously unimaginable and applied their expertise into advanced innovations in the fields of art and science. Florida Pier Scott-Maxwell was born in Orange Park, Florida, on September 24, 1883. She had lessons at home until she was ten, briefly attended public school in Pittsburgh, then went back to private lessons, and finally gave it all up to go on the stage at sixteen. At twenty she abandonded that career and began another as a writer of short stories. In 1910 she married John Maxwell Scott-Maxwell and went to live in his native Scotland. In 1929 they divorced and she moved to London. Her major pursuits were working for women's suffrage, writing plays, and tending her flowers and four children. In 1933 she began training for still another career as an analytical psychologist, studying under Carl Jung, later practicing in both Scotland and England.
